A Message to Caregivers

Experts say that next year, we will be back to a more normal way of life by this time. “Normal” sounds euphoric, like the sun will shine for the very first time.

If you have ever talked with someone who has achieved something big, they’ll gloss over the easy successes and go on at length about the significant challenges and what it took to overcome them. History seems filled with great people accomplishing extraordinary things, in large part because of the difficulties that came before the results.

Here we are at the tail end of what has to be considered one of the most challenging years in modern history. There will be volumes written about this year. The pandemic, the seismic shifts in our societies, and the political/governmental uncertainty. Assisted living owners, operators, administrators, and most importantly, the frontline workers who provide care, you are the people history will look back on as the heroes in the chapters about overcoming challenges, extraordinary bravery, and selflessness in the face of unprecedented adversity. Thank you.

At ECP, we are fortunate and endlessly grateful to provide a product to assisted living communities worldwide. Because of what we do, we are witness to the fact that assisted living communities are where greatness occurs every day. Without fanfare and only an occasional public pat on the back, you wake up every day knowing what you’re up against, and you do it anyway. You provide care for the world’s most vulnerable, even at your own risk, because caring for others is the right thing to do, it is who you are, and it needs to be done. Thank you.

Experts say that next year, we will be back to a more normal way of life by this time. “Normal” sounds euphoric, like the sun will shine for the very first time. However, to achieve “normal,” there is a lot of work to be done. While we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, the world still needs to lean on you to get us to the other side. You still have to manage the spread between now and the second round of vaccination. You will be among the first in line to administer the vaccine to our mothers and fathers, and our sisters and brothers – to our loved ones. Thank you.

As a software company, our job is to provide assisted living communities like yours with tools that improve your business and your ability to provide care, like developing solutions for managing vaccine rollout and other emerging challenges you might face. Our job, though, is easy compared to yours. We provide heroes like you with a toolkit or a utility belt while you face down the villains.

“A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway.”

~ Christopher Reeve

For all the doubt and uncertainty you have already faced and overcome, and for all the doubt and uncertainty you will continue to face and overcome, thank you.
